<p>If you are a player and tried to buy Save My Telly for mobile platforms in the past 4 days&#8230; well, you couldn&#8217;t. We screwed it up with the new &#8220;freemium&#8221; version and the in-app purchase of the full game got bugged.</p>
<p>This is getting fixed as we talk. In fact, it was already fixed and is under review by Apple, should be back up soon. Sorry for that!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On fryday, 27<sup>th</sup> of January, the Global Game Jam happened around the whole world. It was no  different here in Brasília, as we had over 20 people working on games for 48 hours.</p>
<p>Fueled by soda and chips, most of the teams were of around 4 or 5 members and for the first time, it was equally distributed between artists and programmers! Some new faces were there as well as the familiar ones that had already participated in earlier jams.</p>
<p>This year, the developers had to create their game following a theme: one image was given to them with a snake biting it’s own tail, known as “<em>the Ouroboros</em>”. The developers couldn’t get any other clue except for the image, but the snake was widely known and the ideas came real quickly.</p>
<p>Behold Studios participated as whole, creating the game called Heartquest, where a boy needs to do quests like getting armor and retrieving items in order to gain the heart and love of a beautiful princess. As a 2D dungeon crawler, all of the places are generated randomly at the beginning of the game and changes every time you step out of it!</p>
<p>It was hard and exhausting but in everyone was so thrilled to work that in the end everything was nice and we are all hoping for GGJ 2013. See you all there!</p>

In my recent quest to publish Save my Telly on indievania.com, I came across some interesting games that you might wanna take a look. <h4>Fotonica</h4>

<p>FOTONICA is a first person game about jumping, sense of speed and exploration. The key is timing, the goal is exploring and traveling flawlessly through the environment. The setting is an abstract, mainly duotone outlined world, with a look referring to the ‚Äò50s geometrical abstractions as well as the 3D low-poly gaming-era.</p>

<h4>OIO</h4>

<p>The player controls OIO, a little wooden character, who can grow wooden beams by throwing special seeds on fertile grounds. As he wakes up in a strange universe made of wood, OIO finds that all his wooden companions are petrified.<br />
Being left alone in this gigantic place, he will embark for a journey that will help him understand what happened to his people. OIO‚Äôs power can be used in different ways, mixing classic platform gameplay and puzzle situations. He is able to combine up to three wooden beams at the same time. He will use them to climb cliffs, jump higher, solve puzzles and control the fire propagation.</p>

<p>SONAR is an exploring-/horror-game with a minimum of graphics and a focus on sound-design instead. Though Catherine can&#8217;t see anything, the player has to use the Sonar-O-Matic 3000, a futuristic sonar device with which she can scan her surroundings. Stuck in the dark, with no hope for rescue, Catherine has to encounter that she is not alone down here&#8230;</p>

<p>Sushi Quest is an unique game which combines exploration in 3D with lots of puzzles.<br />
The game itself takes lots of elements from classics from the 90s, and bring them to this new age of gaming!<br />
This is a very puzzle heavy game, with lots of exploration, if you like SNES classics like Zelda or Lost Vikings, you probably will love this!</p>

<p>In the last game build, Beaver has three skills with a shared cooldown that helps the player keep his things tight, &#8211; Repair, Glue and Screw &#8211; but balancing these three with the game&#8217;s fast paced and &#8220;rock, paper and scissor&#8221; gameplay is giving some headaches.<br />
Anyway, you can expect Same My Telly coming out freshly out of the oven by late this week &#8211; we just can&#8217;t wait for the launch!</p>

Save My Telly is our new game! The goal is to help Mr. Beaver as he tries to protect his brand new TV set from natural disasters such as rain, wind and earthquakes.</p>
<p>Made using the latest version of Unity, Save my Telly has already participated in a 2012 contest called &#8220;Flash in a Flash&#8221;, where developers had to use the new Unity to Flash plugin in their games. The game got a little buggy here and there, but worked nonetheless. Hoping for the best!</p>
<p>The final release will be for iPad and Android Tablets, and as the first game from the project Indie Lab, Save my Telly was made with only 2 artists and 2 programmers, and the profit is will be divided equally between all workers. That&#8217;s the idea behind Indie Lab. [www.indiegogo.com/indielab]</p>
<p>Save my Telly will be released for free with some limitations &#8211; but players may buy the full version with in-app purchase. This is done to spread out as much as possible, and get a lot of players to know and play our game.</p>

<p>Unity Technologies anounced the first Unity to Flash Player contest. In this contest, called Flash in a Flash, you have to create a Unity-powered Flash content with the Unity 3.5 public beta, upload it to the web, and apply until January 5th to enter for a chance to win the grand prize of $20,000!</p>
<p>So, we got together at one of our colleagues apartment, and started coding&#8230; Of course we had a lot of good food to inspire our creation process. Save my Telly is on it&#8217;s way!</p>

<p>There are many students and young minds diving into the world of game development. They have a great opportunity of innovate and step outside of the sturdy mind of the established industry. They&#8217;re youthful, fresh, and willing to work for their passion. So we want to create new concept of game studio, a project called IndieLabs. Consists in a workspace full of joy, excitement, beverages and snacks, but mainly with mentorship, technology and public media professionals where these young fellas would be able to create their amazing and truly innovative games, and making a living from their games selling it through out the world, with the help of indie game producers and directors, that run companies such as Behold Studios and Dynamic Light.</p>
<p>Some features of our lab:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Everyone shares income</strong>. From the ground up, from the artists to the directors, everyone receives the same share of every game produced in the laboratory. Basically, make game and earn from it.</li>
<li><strong>No one is left behind</strong>. We will incorporate game designers, artists, concepts designers, level designers, programmers, producers and audio designers in our lab. Everyone who is willing to create awesome games!</li>
<li><strong>Shared wall of ideas</strong>. Everyone can add or update ideas to the wall, so each of the participants contribute to every new project.</li>
<li><strong>The sky is not the limit. </strong>Professional marketing, public relations and strong presence on social media for every game.</li>
<li><strong>Active Learning</strong>. Every monday will be all about watching a documentary, tutorial or keynote from the most successful people in each field of knowledge.</li>
<li><strong>Getting out of the lab</strong>. Trips financed by the lab to game dev events and conferences, such as Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.</li>
<li><strong>Party Game Jams!</strong> Who doesn&#8217;t want to spend friday through sunday creating a whole game in just 48 hours, without sleeping and eating a lot of junky food? This is one of the best practices to come up with new and innovative game ideas.</li>
</ul>
<p>So, we&#8217;re creating a crowd funding campaign, on <a href="http://indiegogo.com">indieGoGo.com</a>, for us to build this dream place. A big slice of our pledge will be spent in game dev software licenses, such as Unity 3D, Photoshop and others. A portion will be to coolify and googlefy our workspace, with sofas and free snacks 24/7. Unfortunately, renting a 100 m<strong>² </strong>space isn&#8217;t cheap, nor is maintaing the space for 12 months, so great part of our pledged money will go to finance the space itself.</p>
<p>And we&#8217;re giving you the opportunity to participate in this project with us. If you help us raise the pledged money, you could play our games, receive them for free, get cool themed T-Shirts, signed photographs from our dev teams, beta-test our games, help us improve with feedback, be part of our creative process, get a customized Android phone with our games, and even have a game created inspired by you.</p>
<p>We&#8217;re making the video campaign. When it&#8217;s done, we will announce it with the link to our campaign dashboard on <a href="http://indieGoGo.com">indieGoGo.com</a>.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Let&#8217;s talk about some gameplay features&#8230;</p>
<p>As you already know, Knights of Pen &amp; Paper is a manager game where you take the place of a dungeon master and have to create your own adventure in an old style pen &amp; paper role-playing game. So we had to go for some new and challenging game concepts.</p>
<p>The first thing I want to start with is the pen &amp; paper game style itself. We narrowed down to five main things in the game: characters, traveling, resting, story-telling and battle. These are the most common things to do in a old style role-playing game. So we introduced these features in our game, to make it seem as if the player is actually playing a D&amp;D or GURPS campaign.</p>
<p>In the game, the player will choose from a big list of character classes, such as Warrior, Rogue, Mage, Paladin, and others, to join the table. Each character class has its own stats, skills and items. The party has to travel through the world looking for higher level monsters, items and shops. And sometimes the party has to rest to recover life and mana points.</p>
<p>The story telling is created by the player through quests. So in each different place in the world, there are a huge amount of combination of quests the player could create. So, for example, the player could create a quest for finding the princess in a castle in the North. Or it could be a peasant, not a princess. It&#8217;s the player&#8217;s choice.</p>
<p>In Battle, the player creates most of the challenges, but not the game itself. Whenever you want to, you can create a random encounter, choosing different kinds of monsters for your party to battle with. In each different place, such as dungeons, forests, deserts and mountains, there are different kinds of creatures, like bats, orcs, goblins, and 50 others. So, the player has to evaluate the party level and choose the best match for them to battle. Creatures of higher levels give more experience, gold and sometimes hidden treasures. A battle with group of enemies gives bonus experience. But the dungeon master does not want to create a challenge that is too hard for the party. So the player has a new challenge: create a battle that is time worthy and is not impossible for them to beat. So, we already developed an awesome battle system, like pokémon games, with battle items to use such as potions and especial skills for each character class.</p>
<p>I think the last thing to reveal today is that the game would not be complete if there wasn&#8217;t soda and pizza for the RPG players to drink and eat during the campaign. So we have a shop full of goodies, that increase all party stats, such as hit points, mana, initiative rolls and attack damages. The player can buy a bag of chips for the RPG table, and it would increase hit points for all characters for the duration of 5 days.</p>
<p>Isn&#8217;t that an awesome inception? Food for the RPG fictitious players increase atributes for the imaginary characters in the world that they&#8217;re role-playing. XD</p>
